When the pressure rises above a safe limit, the fuel pressure relief valve is triggered to prevent damage to the injectors, fuel lines, or pump. The ECU (engine control unit) logs P018F when this happens repeatedly.
1. Faulty fuel pressure regulator (stuck or not controlling properly).
2. Fuel pump delivering too much pressure.
3. Clogged or restricted fuel return line.
4. Faulty fuel pressure sensor sending incorrect readings.
5. ECU software issue (rare, but possible).
1. Check Engine Light (CEL) ON.
2. Poor fuel economy.
3. Engine running rich (too much fuel).
4. Hard starting or rough idle.
5. Possible black smoke from exhaust.
1. Test and replace fuel pressure regulator if faulty.
2. Check fuel pump output pressure.
3. Inspect return line for blockages or kinks.
4. Replace fuel rail pressure sensor if giving incorrect values.
5. Reset the code after repair and monitor.
