The Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a problem with the pressure control solenoid A, which regulates hydraulic pressure for gear shifting. The solenoid may be stuck, electrically faulty, or there may be a hydraulic problem inside the transmission.
1. Faulty pressure control solenoid (A)
2. Dirty or contaminated transmission fluid (debris, sludge, or clutch material)
3. Low or incorrect transmission fluid level
4. Blocked transmission passages
5. Wiring or connector issues (damaged harness, corrosion, poor connection)
6. Faulty transmission pump
7. Internal mechanical problems (valve body issues, worn clutches, etc.)
8. Defective TCM/ECM (less common)
1. Transmission slipping or harsh shifting
2. Delayed engagement (when shifting from P to D or R)
3. Vehicle stuck in limp mode
4. Overheating transmission
5. Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated
1. Check transmission fluid – Level, condition, and type (replace if dirty or low).
2. Inspect wiring/connectors – Look for burns, corrosion, or loose pins at solenoid harness.
3. Test solenoid – Using a multimeter for resistance and power supply.
4. Hydraulic pressure test – To confirm whether pump and solenoid are regulating correctly.
5. Scan tool live data – Check TCM commands and actual pressure response.
6. Repair/replace faulty solenoid or valve body if required.
7. Reflash/update TCM if manufacturer recommends.
