The Transmission Control Module (TCM) has detected that Friction Element “B” (usually a clutch, brake, or band inside the transmission) is not releasing properly when it should — it appears to be “stuck ON.” This results in abnormal gear behavior and may trigger fail-safe (limp) mode.
1. Jerky or delayed shifting
2. Transmission stuck in 1st or 2nd gear
3. Harsh gear engagement
4. Check Engine Light (CEL)
5. PRNDS flashing (for DSG)
6. Possible no movement in gear
1. Worn or stuck clutch pack (typically Clutch B)
2. Hydraulic or mechanical failure in the mechatronic/valve body
3. Low or degraded transmission fluid
4. Faulty clutch actuator or solenoid
5. Contaminated valve body (DSG/DCT)
6. Internal transmission wear or failure
1. Scan live data to identify which clutch is sticking (Clutch A or B)
2. Perform clutch adaptation or basic settings using OEM software (VCDS, ODIS, Ford IDS, etc.)
3. Replace DSG/DCT fluid and filter if dirty or overdue
4. If problem persists:
– Inspect or replace the clutch pack
– Replace or repair the mechatronic/valve body
5. Perform a test drive + adaptation procedure after repairs
1. Volkswagen / Audi with DQ200 DSG
2. Ford with DPS6 PowerShift
3. Hyundai / Kia with 7-speed DCT
4. Some BMW and Mercedes-Benz models with AMT/DCT setups
