The pressure control solenoid regulates line pressure inside the transmission for smooth gear shifts. If the circuit is open, the solenoid won’t work, leading to improper line pressure and harsh or failed shifting.
1. Faulty Pressure Control Solenoid A (burnt coil/open circuit).
2. Wiring harness damage (cut, broken, or corroded wire).
3. Loose or corroded connector pins at solenoid or TCM.
4. Faulty TCM/PCM driver circuit.
5. Internal short inside valve body assembly.
1. Harsh or delayed gear shifts.
2. Transmission stuck in limp mode (2nd/3rd gear only).
3. Check Engine Light (CEL) / Transmission Warning Light.
4. Overheating transmission in some cases.
1. Check ATF fluid level & condition (dirty fluid can worsen solenoid issues).
2. Inspect wiring & connectors – look for open circuits or broken pins.
3. Measure solenoid resistance with a multimeter (open circuit = faulty).
4. Perform continuity test from TCM to solenoid.
5. If wiring/solenoid are OK → suspect TCM fault.
1. Replace Pressure Control Solenoid A if defective.
2. Repair/replace damaged wiring harness or connectors.
3. Flush & refill ATF fluid if dirty/contaminated.
4. Replace/repair valve body if solenoid is part of it.
5. In rare cases → replace/reprogram TCM.
