P0841 - Land Rover

This code indicates that the Transmission Fluid Pressure (TFP) sensor is reporting a pressure value that is outside the expected range. Essentially, the transmission control module (TCM) is detecting abnormal hydraulic pressure in the transmission.

Common Causes:

1. Low or dirty transmission fluid.
2. Faulty Transmission Fluid Pressure (TFP) sensor.
3. Wiring issues: open, shorted, or corroded wires/connectors in the TFP sensor circuit.
4. Internal transmission problems: solenoid failure, worn clutches, or hydraulic blockages.

Symptoms:

1. Delayed or harsh shifting
2. Transmission slipping
3. Check Engine Light (CEL) ON
4. Gear engagement issues

Diagnostic Steps:

1. Check transmission fluid level and condition; refill or replace if necessary.
2. Inspect wiring and connectors for the TFP sensor.
3. Test the TFP sensor with a multimeter (check resistance/voltage per manufacturer specs).
4. If fluid and sensor are okay, scan TCM live data to see actual pressure readings.
5. Consider internal transmission inspection if above steps are fine but issue persists.

Repair:

1. Replace the TFP sensor if faulty.
2. Repair or replace damaged wiring/connectors.
3. Flush or replace transmission fluid if dirty or low.
4. Address any internal transmission issues if identified.
