The transmission control module (TCM) or engine control module (ECM) has detected an electrical fault (short, open, or intermittent) in the circuit controlling Pressure Control Solenoid “B.” This solenoid regulates hydraulic pressure for smooth gear shifting.
1. Harsh, delayed, or erratic gear shifts
2. Transmission slipping
3. Stuck in one gear (limp mode)
4. Check Engine Light (CEL) on
5. Possible overheating of transmission
1. Faulty pressure control solenoid B
2. Wiring issues – damaged, corroded, or loose connectors
3. Low or dirty transmission fluid
4. Faulty transmission pump (rare)
5. Malfunctioning TCM/ECM
1. Check transmission fluid (level & condition).
2. Inspect wiring & connectors at solenoid and TCM.
3. Test solenoid B for proper resistance and function.
4. Replace the solenoid if faulty.
5. In rare cases – repair/replace TCM.
