This code is set when the Transmission Control Module (TCM) does not receive an engine speed (RPM) signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM). The transmission relies on this signal to determine proper shift timing and torque management.
1. Check Engine Light (CEL) ON
2. Harsh or delayed shifting
3. Transmission stuck in limp mode
4. Incorrect gear selection
5. RPM gauge may not function
1. Faulty crankshaft position sensor (CKP)
2. Damaged engine speed sensor wiring or connectors
3. Communication issue between ECM and TCM
4. Faulty ECM or TCM
5. Corroded or loose electrical grounds
1. Scan for related DTCs (especially crankshaft or camshaft sensor codes)
2. Inspect crankshaft position sensor for damage, alignment, or failure
3. Check wiring harness between ECM and TCM for continuity or corrosion
4. Test voltage and signal at the engine speed sensor
5. Replace faulty CKP sensor if no signal is detected
6. If all hardware is good, check for TCM or ECM faults
